Happy Sunday Fun Day! This weekend was full of family, friends and a lot of sunshine; pretty much all you need in life. Unfortunately, we all miscalculated how much sunscreen was needed for a full day on the lake, and now we’re REALLY paying for it, whoops. But all this time outdoors is really getting me into the summer spirit – pretty soon Barton Springs Pool will be the only Austin destination when temperatures break the high 90’s and SnoBeach will be backed up with Tiger’s Blood orders. So naturally, Peter and I decided to plan a little getaway to Miami to soak up the sun kissed beaches and cuban inspired cuisine. I’m pretty much just trying to live vicariously through every Slim Aaron’s summer holiday photo.
First off, if anyone has ever been to Miami, any tips/suggestions are more than welcomed! We plan on amping up our food game with top notch cuban sandwiches, exploring the 60’s MOD architecture of downtown Miami and finally driving the overseas highway to Key West with Sixt Rent a Car. If you plan on taking a road trip anytime soon, look no further, as this family owned and operated rental car company comes highly recommended! They set the bar high with more than 100 locations worldwide (including our very own Austin, TX!), flexible drop off/pick up locations (which we all know is key) and really great rates. The choice rides are just an added bonus, but here are some coupons to sweeten the deal. Road trip!
In other news, here are a few things I’m currently obsessing over:
How cute are these handmade headbands by Libellula Designs?! Presh.
I’m a big fan of long lasting lipstick and think I just found my new number #1.
I did a little sunday shopping today at Olive on the eastside, it’s a must see!
If you love truffles, Bola Pizza will blow your mind! I had a little taste at the EAUFT and still can’t get enough.
Well, this weekend was seriously one for the books! Birthday parties, golf tournaments and urban farm tours were all part of the mix. Now I feel like I need another weekend just to get some down time in… ain’t that the truth.
I had the pleasure of attending my favorite Austin event to date yesterday – the East Austin Urban Farm Tour, and I’m still so giddy about it! To sum it up: 4 farms, 1 afternoon and the best restaurants in town making bites from the fresh crop. YES. Check back in this week for a full write up, you won’t want to miss it.
But the real icing on the cake was finally taking home the trophy for the 7th Annual Disasters Golf Tournament! It’s Peter’s play on the Masters, for those who probably know more about Busch Light, than golfing. Nevertheless, we finally won! #humblebrag :)
Happy Monday, check out some things on my radar below and stay tuned for some fun posts this week!
I’ve had some asks about my camera, it’s a Samsung and I love it!
OPI has shellac polish! I must be way behind on this…
I’m always about prints, but how great would these be as wallpaper?!
Tried Chi’lantro yet? OMG! Add this one to your list.
Wrapping up the weekend, finally! I guess better late then never :)
Well I hope you all had a wonderful Easter with family and friends this Sunday. Since my parents live in Seattle, I really love the holidays, because they venture down South and we get to celebrate, play games (Sequence, of course) and eat lots of ice cream together. Aka only good things! Our agenda was quite full as we made our way to Horseshoe Bay for the 3rd annual Balloons Over Horseshoe Bay festival, which to my broken heart, was cancelled due to weather. Austin sure has a way of breaking out the thunder when a concert, festival or event is going on. Tsk. Nevertheless, we made some delicious food and I even got in a little shopping and visiting with friends! I also did a lot of planning for the weeks ahead, check out some ideas I have in store…
My latest and greatest purchase is this lovecat ring from Catbird NYC. Dying.
OV has done it again. Pastels are here!
I actually made this for Easter brunch. No, it didn’t look as good (but still tasted great!).
Urban Farm Tour – on my list for next weekend!
I honestly can’t keep my fiddle leaf fig tree alive, anyone have any tips? SOS!
How was your weekend? Do you have any vacation plans coming up? I can tell I’m getting that travel bug!
This was quite the weekend in Austin and my burnt to a crisp skin can vouch for it. We hit the mid 80’s yesterday, so naturally, the city was full of people jogging the trail, paddle boarding and enjoying the sunshine, aka summer is on the horizon! Yay! It wasn’t all sun basking though, thanks to my to-do list, which included a calligraphy class with Laurel Essl, from Blue Eye Brown Eye, at Mockingbird Domestics (my weekend gig!) and hitting up Round Top for the Antique Festival – more to come on that this week. Phew, that was quite the mouthful, clearly I love to stay busy! Here are some other things that have been catching my eye this weekend. What have you been up to? Fill me in, I’d love to hear!
Interested in learning other typography? Brush lettering perhaps? Sign up for a class here!
City Wide Garage Sale is another place to score some vintage finds.
A closet remodel is on the horizon, what do you think of these ideas? All tips/suggestions welcome!
This is just another reason why Chartreuse is still my favorite color.
Have y’all heard of Timehop? I’m actually addicted.
I’m absolutely digging this tuxedo dress look! Just purchased one – details soon! In the meantime, follow my Pinterest board for more fashion inspiration.
Recipe for the week: Watermelon radish, orange, and goat cheese salad. OMG!
